Because he totally forgot that our little girl already goes to school, Daddy A took a 3-day leave from work hoping we can get away by Wednesday for my birthday getaway. But, since The Princess is already going to school and my birthday week happens to be her Student-Teacher Encounter Week, we had to move my birthday getaway to Friday. Hence, he was left with nothing to do for two days.
Instead of just staring at the walls in our house, Daddy A decided that we finish up on some items in our wait list of to-do’s. At the top of our list is a visit to the main office of the land developer of our soon-to-be home to get our Contract To Sell as well as Title with Description plus a visit to PAGIBIG to inquire about their housing loan.
Surprisingly, we were able to do all these by noon. Since we’ve got nothing else to do, we agreed to try out a restaurant in Capitol Commons since we’ve been hearing a lot of good things about this place.
We were craving for some good ‘ol Filipino food with a heap of rice so we found ourselves waiting for a table at Sentro 1771. I like Filipino food traditionally cooked so I was a bit hesitant when I saw their tagline, Modern Filipino Cuisine. I would have looked for a familiar restaurant that serves Filipino food, but due to hunger, I decided to try the restaurant out…and I’m glad we went for it because the food is SO good.
For our starter, we ordered a platter of Fresh Smoked Fish Spring Rolls. These are spring rolls stuffed with tinapang bangus, salted egg, tomatoes, onions, and mustasa. Dip it in their vinegar mixture and you’ll soon find yourself in heaven.
Galunggong (or GG) makes my mouth itchy, but I love it anyway. So we ordered their recommended Rated GG, which is galunggong fillet fried in garlic oil and topped with roasted garlic bits.
And since chicken barbeque is a can’t miss when I go to Filipino restaurants, we also ordered Sentro 1771’s Boneless Chicken Barbecue.
Pair these scrumptious dishes with steaming white rice and you’ll surely satisfy your tummy’s cravings for Filipino food! We wanted to top our meal with a cup of Kapeng Barako each from Lipa, but we were so full already! Judging from our first dining experience here, I’m sure we’ll be back very soon to try out the other dishes…and leave some room for coffee as well. 😀
