Life Is Sweeter with Panaderia Pantoja’s Yema Cake

Arjay and I are coffee lovers. As in we never ever miss a day without coffee! And we love having our cup of coffee with something sweet: say a plate of crepe, a super caramel-y waffle, or a slice of cake.

Being the most available cake variant, we usually partner coffee with chocolate cake. However, our other favorite, which we haven’t had for almost a year (!!!) is yema cake. So, imagine our joy when our friends from Panaderia Pantoja sent us a box of yema cake! Even our kids were super excited to have a bite that I didn’t have a chance to take a photo of the cake outside of the box on its own.

SO ready to dig in!

Before the cake arrived, Arjay had a plate of pancit and eight (8!!!) pieces of palitaw. I offered a slice of yema cake, but he said he’ll just have a bite from my slice because he was too full. But, after taking a bite, he ended up eating the rest of my slice and went for a second round! The cake is that good. We love how the custard cream that wraps the chiffon cake inside is not too sweet. We also love the bits of cheese on top of the cake. According to A, the cheese keeps the “umay” away.

Because we couldn’t get enough of the yema cake, we had it for breakfast with our coffee fix instead of our usual rice/bread with egg and tocino/fish/beef tapa/sausages. Perfect combination, I tell you!

Yema Cake and Coffee (of course!) for breakfast

I did a bit of reading about Panaderia Pantoja and their yema cake. With their scrumptious breads, biscuits and cakes, I was not surprised to know that Panaderia Pantoja has been around since 1950. They have definitely perfected their products over the years! The first branch was opened by Aurelio and Celinda Pantoja in Tanauan City (Batangas). Today, the bakeshop is all over Metro Manila. You can see a list of their branches here.

Panaderia Pantoja’s Yema Cake is one of their best sellers and it is only available for pre-order. It comes in 6×6 (PHP140), 8×11 (PHP380) and 11×16 (PHP600) boxes. Here’s the good news: delivery is free for orders worth at least PHP 500 if the delivery address is within Makati, BGC or Fort Bonifacio. If you are outside those areas, you can still have your cake delivered for a basic delivery fee of PHP80 OR you can pick up your cake at your chosen branch.

For more information, visit their website at www.panaderiapantoja.com. For pre-orders and custom orders, you can call them up at +639231425715 or +639287925039. You can also email them at uppercrust1200@gmail.com.

Although I received a box of delicious yema cake (it really is!) from Panaderia Pantoja, you are assured that all opinions expressed in this post are my own.
