Rockin’ Preschool: After A Month of Fun and Crazy Days

writing in preschool

I can’t believe it! It’s been a month since our 3-year old, The Princess, started attending Junior Nursery. There have been so many milestones in a span of a month. The most surprising was that she potty trained herself just after three days of going to school. “My friends wiwi in the toilet. I wiwi in the toilet too because I’m a big girl,” she told me. And she stopped wearing diapers since then – not even at night!

She learned a lot of new songs and dances too, now understands directions like up, down, left, and right, and can express her feelings better. She became very talkative as well… and has become quite a good negotiator.

One of the most entertaining (for us! :D) thing she learned is how to answer questions about herself. She knows how to introduce herself, she talks about her family, and knows where she goes to school. Sometimes, she’d make us laugh by giving us silly answers like when I asked her what her dad’s name is, she answered: “My daddy is Daddy Arjay Pogi!”

I can say that our first month in preschool was pretty fun… but it was crazy too. Although The Princess is always generally excited for school, there are days when she’d act up and refuse to take a bath or get dressed. Sometimes, she gets picky about even the tiniest things like her socks. One time, as I was about to put her white socks with black soles on, she moved her feet away and told me that she wants her white socks with pink soles. I explained that her white and pink socks are still wet, but she still wanted them. And so she cried for a good half hour.

What makes things even more challenging is that I also have to prepare the Little Man since he goes with us to school. That’s when everything goes crazy. Imagine getting two kids to eat breakfast, take a bath, and dress up. There is also the challenge of preparing snacks – for both of them. Baon ideas for a preschooler will be greatly appreciated!

Thankfully, I only have to prepare snacks twice a week since the school provides their snacks every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Still, it’s a challenge to prepare snacks that are fun, yummy, and healthy (without breaking the budget)!

It gets even crazier when we have to answer homework. The Princess looks forward to it, but she does not look forward to her brother climbing the table and drawing scribbles on her book. There are times when I trick the Little Man to scribble on his own paper, but there are days that he really prefers to annoy his sister. I can imagine how it would be like when The Minis reach their teenage years! Lots and lots of teasing!

I honestly find it amusing sometimes, but still, it’s stressful to have minis arguing almost every afternoon just because the younger one is a teaser. 😀

Despite all these crazy things going on in our house, I can say that our first month of preschool has been more fun than crazy. The Princess learned so many things, Arjay and I learned a lot too, and the Little Man is showing interest in his sister’s school work, which is good because he used to totally ignore learning materials I prepare for him! It’s also nice that we – The Princess and myself – met new friends in school. 🙂

Do you have a preschooler too? What are you doing to make school more fun than crazy?
