4 Space Saving Decorating Ideas for Condo Dwellers

We’re moving to our condo today! We could’ve moved last week, but after reading Mommy Pehpot’s post, Mga Pamahiin Sa Paglipat ng Bahay, we decided to move our move to September 28th. LOL! We’re not huge believers of pamahiin, but it won’t hurt to follow them right? Besides, what’s a week of delay.

Anyway. We haven’t had the condo renovated yet since we have to prepare the budget for that. So we’ll be leaving it as is for a month or two and just use our old furniture for the mean time. What we have there is just out queen-sized sofa bed, our four-seater dining table, and our television. In fairness, I was expecting the condo will be super crowded with our big furniture, but it isn’t! I can’t imagine how spacious it’ll be when we finally replace everything with space-saving furniture and decors.

Speaking of furniture and decors, I’ve been looking around the world wide web for inspiration on how to decorate small living spaces. I’m so excited because I’ve seen lots of lovely ideas for our condo already! Let’s begin with the bedroom.

Tip #1: Make use of double-purpose furniture.

The bedroom was a huge concern for us when we bought the condo. I want the bed to be comfortable, but I don’t want it to eat up all the space. A pull out bed is the perfect solution! We’re planning to have a bed with an additional pull out bed with drawers at the bottom. I like the design of the bed above, except we’ll have a bigger one made.

Now, let’s move on to the kitchen.

Tip #2: Organize small items into baskets (or any sort of container).

The pantry wasn’t a problem for me because our condo came with a rather spacious kitchen cabinet set. In fact, I was already able to organize that part of the kitchen yesterday!

But where do I put all the cleaning materials? I have a lot because I like to clean. Haha! I went to Pinterest for under-the-sink organization ideas and found the photo above. Oha! That’s a brilliant idea, right? May pull-out effect pa! Daddy A, take note! 😀

Our dining table will look something like this:

Tip #3: Don’t use bulky furniture.

We’ll be raising our table and use bar stools as our seats. I absolutely love the lamps above the dining table! I hope I can find a similar set here.

Surprisingly, our bathroom isn’t that small. I was expecting our washing machine won’t even fit inside, but it did and the bathroom is still spacious enough to easily move around. I’d like to redecorate it, though, since it looks bare. Here’s my inspiration for the bathroom:

Tip #4: Make use of vertical space.

The one area we agreed not to add in our condo is a living area. Since our condo has a club house and a place where we can entertain our guests, we decided not to include a living room complete with a sofa and table and just entertain guests outside. Besides, we don’t plan to have huge parties in our condo since we want it to be a private family dwelling. All get-togethers will have to happen in the club house. Don’t worry, friends, there’s a pool! 😀

That’s it! We’ve got a looooong way to go before we finish renovating our new home, but we’ll get there!
