The holiday season is the worst time to get sick. It’s supposed to be a jolly time with family and friends, but when you’re ill, you have no choice but to stay in and miss all the fun!
With Christmas so near and a whole list of errands to do before it gets really festive (and busy), I’m in our home with tissue paper overflowing in the trash bin. I’ve been sick since the weekend and I’m itching to get better because I’ve got A LOT of things to do. Aside from a pile of work waiting to be done, I’ve got Christmas shopping on my mind too. It’ll be our first Christmas in our new home so I’d really like to make it memorable for the whole family. But since I’m sick, I haven’t had the chance to buy what I need to start decorating. It sucks!
I have a lot of catching up to do so I’m trying my best to get better AND not to pass on the virus to the whole family. Who wants the whole family to get sick during the holidays, right? So, I’ve come up with 5 tips to boost your immunity during the holidays because we all want to have a #HealthyHoliday and a #StressFreeChristmas!
TIP #1: Give yourself a break. I know the holiday season is an exciting time of the year. And so we spend one evening after another out and about shopping for holiday decorations and Christmas gifts. Although I haven’t started shopping yet, I’m guilty for spending late nights at work because how else can I fund my holiday shopping, right? That is super wrong, friends. Rest is important in keeping your immune system strong enough to fight off illness so make sure you get lots of it!
(Also, don’t forget to drink LOTS of water!)

TIP #5: Get a boost for your immune system. I just realized now that I haven’t been taking anything to help me boost my immune system. With a demanding business and supporting my husband as he launches his own business plus taking care of the minis and managing the household (I stand by my word not to get househelp), I realize now that it’s important for me to take vitamins too. I did a bit more digging to see why I should shift to Fern-C from the brand I used to take way back then and this is what I got:
- Fern-C is a Sodium Ascorbate. What I used to take is Ascorbic Acid. While Ascorbic Acid does its job in helping prevent cough and colds as well as assist in speeding up healing when you do come down with a cough or cold, one major side effect of taking it is stomach irritation. Sodium Ascorbate is a combination of ascorbic acid and sodium. What makes it advantageous is that its alkaline content counter-balances the acidity of ascorbic acid; hence it’s less likely to cause stomach irritation.
- Fern-C is a potent anti-oxidant. Sodium Ascorbate is known to increase body resistance to infections and stress. It also promotes fast wound healing and can also prevent anemia, bone fractures and vulnerability of the small blood vessels.
- Fern-C comes in capsule form. Since Sodium Ascorbate comes in capsule form, it dissolves faster than Ascorbic Acid (this usually comes in tablet form). It also stays longer inside the body, which is beneficial for its antioxidant value.
