Mountain Lake Resort Caliraya – A Travelbook.ph Blogger Getaway

Although I enjoy traveling with my family, I have to admit that I also long for my solo travels. If you’ve been my reader since my early days of blogging, before there was Mom On Duty, there was Coffee With Kim. I wrote about my adventures; the people I meet; and what I discover about myself in the process. Traveling is therapeutic for me as it allows me to step back and just enjoy every moment.

“We travel, some of us forever, to seek other places, other lives, other souls.” – Anais Nin

This is why I am extremely grateful that TravelBook.ph invited me to join the TravelBook.ph Blogger Getaway last weekend. I haven’t been able to travel without my family for years so I was quite excited to give it a go again. For this leg, we were treated to three days of pure fun at Mountain Lake Resort in Caliraya, Laguna.

The 300-hectare Spanish-Mediterranean inspired resort and golf course offers a breathtaking view of Mount Banahaw and Lake Caliraya. While the resort is geared towards corporate events and team building activities, I can say that families can also take part in the fun!

A Closer Look at the Amihan Huts of Mountain Lake Resort Caliraya

Since we were a big group, we stayed in the Amihan Cottages, which are patterned after the traditional Bahay Kubo. The cottages are not airconditioned, but the cool, fresh air is enough for a comfortable stay. There is also no bathroom inside the cottage, but there are shared bath areas within the area. If you’re staying here, make sure you bring your own toiletries since these are not included. They do, however, provide bath towels.

The Amihan Cottages come in two sizes: the smaller one can sleep up to six people while the bigger one can sleep up to ten.

The upside of staying in an Amihan Cottage is the area’s close proximity to the Marina where all the activities are. It’s quite far from the clubhouse where the restaurant is, but you can order from the restaurant and they will deliver your food to the Marina dining area.

Within the same area are accommodations for those who want to give Glamping a try. We were supposed to try it out, but since it kept raining, the resort was unable to secure the tents on the ground. Maybe next time?

Although I enjoyed staying in an Amihan Cottage, I don’t recommend this to families with small children since the cottages are fronting Lake Caliraya. As in, they are just a few steps from the lake so it’s not very safe for little kids. If you’re going to bring kids with you, it’s best to stay in the main hotel.

Mountain Lake Resort Activities

Our first day was mostly spent lounging around the resort because of the bad weather. The second day, however, was jam-packed with adventures. If you’re heading over to Mountain Lake Resort, you HAVE to try their activities. I mean, those are the highlights of our stay there!

Activities you can try at Mountain Lake Resort:

There is a separate fee for each activity you’re going to try. However, Mountain Lake Resort also offers packaged stays wherein you can ask them to prepare a package that includes your accommodation and activities you want to do during your stay.

The Food

I initially felt like the serving was rather small. However, after every meal, I felt full and satisfied. Apparently, all the food they serve at the resort are fresh. I especially loved their Bulalo and Grilled Dory with Bonito Sauce. I loved the latter so much, I think I’ll bring my family here just to have them taste it!

Unfortunately, me being always excited about food, I failed to take a photo of the Grilled Dory with Bonito Sauce. I just wanted to dig in and so I did!

We’ll be back!

Although every muscle on my body is hurting even days after our stay at Mountain Lake Resort, I think I’ll do it all over again – this time with my family! I wasn’t able to ask their age restrictions for each activity, but even if the minis won’t be able to try all of them, I think just being in a place that’ll bring them closer to nature is enough to make them extra happy.
