Celebrate Your Child’s Birthday with oh, Bento’s Yummy, Healthy and Fun Bento Party Meals (Giveaway Closed)

Are you planning to throw a party for your kid’s birthday? There are countless of restaurants and fast food chains that offer children’s party packages, but nothing beats a do-it-yourself themed party!

I don’t claim to be a DIY Party Queen, but I do try my best to add a few special things every time we celebrate our minis’ birthdays. For instance, when we celebrated The Princess’ birthday party at Club Manila East, Arjay and I personalized the party by decorating the venue so that it will really look like a Hawaiian beach party. We bought leis and grass skirts for the guests, designed the venue tarpaulin and signages that led the guests to the pavilion, and ordered a Hawaiian-themed cake.

We also try our best to serve healthy meals to our guests, which are mostly kids. When we were planning for The Little Man’s first birthday party, we were so tempted to just book a party with a fastfood chain since it’s more affordable than getting a caterer. Thankfully, Max’s Restaurant offers lutong bahay-type and  fairly affordable kiddie party packages (although it is still more expensive than the ones offered by fast food chains).

With The Princess about to celebrate her third birthday party – and me getting into the Just Cook Challenge – I started to look for party food providers that offer healthy party meals that kids will enjoy. I want to veer away from fast food parties since that goes against the kind of lifestyle we have been trying to shift to since the start of the year.

Then, a few weeks ago, one of our wedding coordinators asked me if I would be willing to feature her friend’s business on the blog. She said that her friend sells bento boxes. I thought the bento boxes she offers are most likely for kids’ school baon. A lot of moms are doing this today so I figured that maybe she sells these boxes to moms who are not very creative (and patient) like me. Haha!

It was only when I finally met Kat Ishizuka personally that I understood what her new business is all about. Oh, Bento began in January 2014. Kat loves cooking and baking for her family. But like any toddler, her son is going through the picky eating phase, which pushed her to not just cook yummy and healthy meals, but also began prepare these meals creatively. Seeing that her son seems to enjoy meals with his favorite cartoon characters on the plate, the idea of selling her bento boxes was born. I super love the idea because the party bento boxes are healthy, yummy and kid-friendly – something I am looking for in party food!
