Can you feel the summer heat? Thank goodness the minis’ grandma bought a new kiddie pool for them! The minis can’t get enough of the water ever since Arjay blew up the pool (with his own breath, FYI, because the minis couldn’t wait for the pump – haha!). I totally understand because it has been super hot lately. If I have a choice, I’d turn on the airconditioner and stay inside the house the whole day. BUT, I have two minis asking to play outside so I have no choice but to endure the heat. I guess they really missed summer after the very cold months that just passed.
Before letting anyone dive into the pool, though, Arjay made sure that everyone knows the pool area rules. So he took out the Safety Reminders sheet he made and printed last summer and displayed it at the entrance of the gazebo. 😀
I know there are no sharks or jelly fish or even crocodiles (not sure where that came from) in a kiddie pool, but having a sheet like this around is great in teaching kids safety, courtesy and etiquette when swimming in a pool. We made sure all of the drawings in the sheet were discussed before I let the minis take a dip.
After an hour of swimming, the minis willingly went out of the kiddie pool when I asked them to. I’ve noticed that these two babies of mine have been throwing less and less tantrums lately. I guess teaching them to communicate with us properly really helped ease the tantrum-throwing. 🙂
Oh! I have news! We took The Princess to Assumption Antipolo today for her interview and assessment. Days before the scheduled interview, I kept telling Arjay that I’m scared that our little girl might not be ready for it. Sure, she knows a lot already and answers us when we ask her questions – but when other people talk to her, she tends to shy away.
Surprisingly, when the teacher asked The Princess to come with her without us, she just waved goodbye and went with the teacher. We knew then that we have a big girl already! After about half an hour, the teacher asked us to join The Princess for a family interview and to discuss her assessment.
She said that our little girl is very smart and quite independent for her age. The teacher was actually amazed at how good The Princess identifies colors, letters and numbers even when she jumbled them. What she needs to improve on, however, is her social skills – which we’ve noticed way before the interview. She tends to assume the “leader role” instead of playing with other children. Leadership is good, but she needs to learn to become a team player as well. The teacher also noticed that it’s so hard for her to stay put (I’m not surprised because her dad is the same way, haha!). Her advise is to create a routine for the minis so they’d learn to be more focused. Other than that, we were told to continue what we’ve been doing – reading books before bedtime, learning through play, etc.
Did she get in? She did! We are so ecstatic! We will receive the formal letter of acceptance next week and after that, we’ll start preparing our girl for school.
