How To Get Your Profile Discovered On Upwork

I have been receiving a lot of questions about how I am getting regularly invited to Upwork projects so I thought of sharing with you simple things I did to increase my profile visibility. So… here’s how to get your profile discovered on Upwork!

These are often things that are often overlooked so it would be good to go through this checklist to make sure you have optimized your profile for the platform.

Make Sure Your Profile Completeness Is At 100%

Make sure your profile is complete. Make sure you have your name, location, and availability set. Also, make sure you had a title that speaks to your target clients, followed by a description of how you can help them.

When you set your availability, be honest. Do not set it to 40 hours a week (full-time) if you can only dedicate 10 hours each week.

Also, remember to add skills as tags. When clients create a job posting, they are asked to add skills tags and the algorithm matches this with the tags in freelancers’ profiles.

Keep Your Response Time Low

As much as possible, respond to messages and invites within the first 24 hours. Faster, if possible.

This tells the algorithm that you are actively looking for opportunities and you are ready to take action right away.

Regularly Send Out Proposals

Send out proposals on a regular basis. I am not actively seeking for opportunities through Upwork, but I make it a point to send out proposals through the platform at least once each week. This keeps my profile active.

I have had to buy connects to keep up with this, but it always pays off anyway!

Take Skills Tests

Take 2-3 skills tests connected to your expertise and make sure you score high. This tells clients that you are an expert in your field and you deliver excellent results.

Upwork is one of the best places to find online work opportunities. This is actually where I landed my first ever freelance project. I know the amount of competition can be discouraging sometimes, but if you keep looking for opportunities and keep improving your skills, you will definitely land projects here.

Try these simple tweaks and let me know how it goes!
